Marjorie Gubelmann Set NYC Nightlife on Fire

DJ Mad Marj, a.k.a Marjorie Gubelmann, set the Meatpacking District nightclub Common Ground ablaze Friday night at MARJ MADNESS – spinning everything from old school Madonna and The Human League to Beyoncé’s “Texas Hold ‘Em” for a crowd that included Tory Burch (who grooved avec Gubelmann in the DJ booth) to entertainment biggie Jason Weinberg and his husband screenwriter Merritt Johnson, actress Carla Gugino, Derek Blasberg and Nick Brown, Proenza Schouler designers Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez, David Burtka, author James Reginato, Snif‘s Phil Riportella, style guru Marcus Teo, Avenue contributor Ted Hildner and Cyrus Gubelmann, who jetted in from university in London for the weekend just to hear his mother play for a seriously packed crowd.

Gubelmann, wearing a purple sequined Dolce & Gabbana dress, cohosted the party with Simon Huck, who basically knows everyone (and every cute gay male) in New York. Tequila cocktails by KendallJenner’s 818 brand kept the crowd juiced for hours. “The magic of playing music and dancing with friends is why I became a DJ,” Gubelmann tells Avenue. “That beautiful feeling was oozing over at Marj Madness and filled my heart. I loved every second.” – PETER DAVIS
