“Art people are aesthetically out-lapping fashion people in New York City.” – Daniel Walters

“Deconstructing Beauty” is the theme of Young Collectors Night at the Winter Show. The Park Avenue Armory is style central. “This is my favorite charity event of the year,” Elise Taylor tells me. “When else can you grab a glass of champagne and try on Victorian era tiaras? This is my idea of a good time.” Laura Kim and Fernando Garcia of Monse are being honored and money raised benefits the East Side House Settlement.

I wear a Schiaparelli cowboy shirt and Paula Saunders is in a Katarzyna Cichy silk cape. Amongst the art and antiques everywhere, we bump into Casey Kohlberg, Polina Proshkina, designer Bach Mai and Eric Viner. “Tonight is a great example of how thoughtfully curated art can spark connection and purpose,” Laura Day Webb says. “The evening is so visually compelling.” Nearby, Deanna First does a fashion illustration with quick, confidant strokes of a guest in a Carolina Herrera dress. The vibe is high fashion meets art world cool. I spot the Muses – Daniel Walters and Jack James Busa – the style set’s favorite DJ team. “From decorum to dress code,” Walters announces. “Art people are aesthetically out-lapping fashion people in New York City.” – ALEXANDER HANKIN
