For the first time, Madison Avenue became a runway to celebrate fall fashion with “Step Up For Fashion.” The unique fashion showing benefited the Council of American Designers of America (CFDA) and its Scholarship Fund that supports the next generation of fashion designers. To the delight of Madison Avenue shoppers, on Saturday, September 21, fashion models walked the CFDA red carpet and “stepped up” onto platforms placed in front of stores for a 3-hour fashion showing. Participating stores donated 10% of sales to the Fund and welcomed customers to step inside to view the new collections and put together fall looks with assistance from their in-house stylists and personal shoppers. Organized by the Madison Avenue B.I.D. in its tradition of offering a philanthropic component to public events.
Next up: the 38th Annual Miracle on Madison Avenue benefiting The Society of MSK and its pediatric initiatives on Saturday December 7.
“Madison Avenue is the epicenter of American as well as global fashion and luxury,” CFDA CEO Steven Kolb says. “We are grateful to the Madison Avenue B.I.D. for supporting CFDA Scholarships with Step Up For Fashion and thereby helping CFDA’s important work to secure the future of American fashion.”
