“I’m exactly where I’m supposed to be. “

Out from the shadow of his “Real Housewives of Salt Lake City” star mother, Meredith Marks, Brooks Marks has his own Bravo show “Next Gen NYC” and an eponymous fashion line. I’ve known Brooks for years and he is like my younger brother. Smart and stylish with movie star good looks, he’s also an all around mensch ready to conquer the cutthroat world of high fashion. – ALEXANDER HANKIN
“Next Gen NYC” has launched you into the public eye.
It validated my commitment to being authentic, growing the Brooks Marks brand and building my modeling career. I’m exactly where I’m supposed to be. I love being able to spotlight the behind the scenes of my career, from building Brooks Marks and modeling to my role as Creative Director at Meredith Marks. It is a chance to show the full picture of what I do.
Anyone can screen your life now.
Seeing conversations I only heard about in real time actually play out onscreen is surreal. It’s wild watching back on moments you lived — or didn’t fully register — through a totally different lens. I hope it came across how much I genuinely tried to support my friends and made an effort to help people make amends, even when it was uncomfortable. My version of being direct may look different than others, but it always comes from a place of care.
“I set the tone when it comes to style in my family.”

Your label started with track suits and is now becoming a complete fashion line.
I’m focused on expanding in terms of reach and physical presence. I’d love for people to be able to shop the brand in-person soon. I’d argue that I set the tone when it comes to style in my family, but I get that from watching my mom and sister who are both effortlessly chic. Nicki Minaj has been a lifelong inspiration. Her fashion reflects who she is: bold, authentic and innovative. That’s what I always strive to channel.
Hamptons or Jersey Shore?
Hamptons! From my experience, the Jersey trips have come with more chaos.
Since moving to NYC, what party blew you away?
The GLAAD Awards. The energy was unmatched and watching Jennifer Lawrence bid on an auction item from my mom was iconic. She’s been someone who I’ve always admired. She told me that I taught her how to make almond milk from an episode of “Real Housewives of Salt Lake City.” I nearly passed out.
