ALEXANDER HANKIN reports from Burna Boy’s post-gala bash at the Boom Boom Room

Why are photographs of the late Vogue editor André Leon Talley flooding your Instagram feed? It’s Met Gala Monday! This year the Costume Institute exhibition is Superfine: Tailoring Black Style, a cultural examination of Black style from the 18th century to today, with a decadent dose of dandyism. “We wanted to make André Leon Talley scream in heaven,” announces Anne Hathaway. A.L.T. would have adored the style parade. Zendaya in a custom Louis Vuitton white three-piece-suit and an Alexis Carrington-style tilted chapeau. Rihanna revealing her baby bump (her third child with Gala co-chair A$AP Rocky) in Marc Jacobs. It Girl stylist Micaela Erlanger dresses Lupita Nyong’o in a pale Tiffany-blue Chanel suit with matching hat and sheer cape. Jordan Roth wears LaQuan Smith flared pants with 10-inch Superfly heels.

At 11 p.m., Erin Lichy and I book over to the Burna Boy after-party at The Boom Boom Room. I wear a black LaQuan Smith tuxedo-inspired look avec Mansion Spoiled jewelry. The room is packed. Polo Bar Queen Nelly Moudime in a black and white Ralph Lauren suit. Adam Lambert in Gucci. Tina Leung in Saint Laurent. I see Dapper Dan, Nick Jonas and wife Priyanka Chopra, Halle Bailey, Mia Moretti, Jodie Turner-Smith with Burberry designer Daniel Lee. Burna Boy is behind the turntables with his hands in the air. The music gets louder and louder. Darren Criss dances wildly with his wife Mia.
André Leon Talley would have loved every second.
