On Monday night, the School of American Ballet hosted its annual Winter Ball at the David H. Koch Theater. The black-tie affair raised over $1 million in support of the organization’s students. The lobby of the Koch theater was awash in diamonds — Graff was a sponsor — tuxedos, and gowns. Postures were erect. Poses were struck. Hors d’œuvres were passed.
Cocktails were followed by a seated dinner. The night also included a showcase performance by SAB students, choreographed by New York City Ballet dancer (and SAB alum) Gilbert Bolden III.
The evening honored Darren Walker, SAB board of directors member Carolyn Wright-Lewis, and Ed Lewis, who together have worked to foster increased diversity at SAB, the feeder school to New York City Ballet.
