The AVENUE Fashion Profile: TOCCIN

“We started this business together with a simple vision: beautiful clothing women would actually live in.”

Michael and Alex Toccin

The IYKYK label TOCCIN, founded by husband-and-wife team Michael and Alex Toccin, who started in fashion with the digital styling platform, Styled to a T, have discovered that women are consistently looking for the same thing: pieces that feel polished yet practical, confident yet effortless. This has become TOCCIN’s mission.

This credo has catapulted TOCCIN into a new phase of expansion, opening their first boutique in Southampton, a place the couple have long been drawn to for its beaches, its natural rhythm of life and of course, its shopping. TOCCIN is also stepping onto the international stage with a launch inside Harrods in London.

Alongside retail expansion, TOCCIN recently partnered with Canfora Capri, the family-run company that has produced handmade sandals, made iconic by Jackie Onassis, Grace Kelly, and Audrey Hepburn, in Capri since 1946.

Michael and Alex Toccin speak to MAGGIE DAVIS about the exciting and ever-evolving future of their popular fashion brand.

TOCCIN feels rooted in femininity but never feels fragile.

We’ve always believed that confidence is the core of femininity. Our designs are about feeling comfortable, confident and stylish in any situation. The TOCCIN woman has evolved and she’s multifaceted, working across careers, family, travel, social life, and community. She wants intentional dressing without the fuss, which was our goal from the start.

Versatility has always central to your design philosophy.

When we designed TOCCIN, we weren’t thinking in silos like “day” versus “night.” We were thinking about what women are actually doing: moving through meetings, dinners, travel, and social evenings without time for an outfit change. Our focus has always been on versatility and on clothes that respond to a woman’s life with intelligence and elegance. That has been core to our vision from the beginning.

Where do your ideas usually start? Is it a muse, a fabric or moments from real life?

It’s less about a singular muse and more about building a wardrobe that feels thoughtful, modern, and relevant to real life. For us, it usually begins with how a woman is living. We’re always asking: Where is she going? What does her day look like? What does she need this piece to do for her? We also prioritize fit and fabric and the result is a piece worth investing in – modern, versatile, and designed to be worn season after season.

The details in every collection are what really grabbed me as a fan.

What we’re most proud of are the details. The interior construction, a functional removable lining in a coat, the way we engineer the seams to flatter the body. These things matter because they change how the garment sits and the number of ways you can wear it. Even small touches like a discreet logo or a functional drawstring are designed to feel purposeful rather than decorative. For us, if a woman feels polished and put together without feeling over-designed, then we know we’ve done it right.

“Our focus has always been on versatility and on clothes that respond to a woman’s life with intelligence and elegance.”

Inside the TOCCIN boutique in Southampton

Southampton is an interesting choice for your first boutique.

Southampton has always been a place we genuinely love spending time: the beach, the shopping, the whole rhythm of a day. It’s somewhere our customer already lives her life, so opening our first boutique there felt like a natural next step. We wanted to bring the TOCCIN aesthetic and lifestyle into that setting and build a retail experience that feels like a true extension of our life at the beach.

And now Harrods too.

Harrods is a huge moment of momentum for us. It’s one of the most recognized names in luxury retail anywhere in the world, and having TOCCIN inside it puts the brand in front of an international customer we haven’t reached at this scale before. It reflects how much the brand has grown, from our early days on Rent the Runway to now stepping onto a global stage, and it’s a clear signal of where we’re headed as we keep building internationally.

“Canfora Capri is the first of a series of collaborations we’re developing with heritage brands, ones with iconic staying power that align with how we think about timelessness.”

The Canfora Capri collaboration is perfect for TOCCIN.

We’ve always been drawn to brands with real history behind them, the kind that built their reputation through craftsmanship and style. Canfora Capri is exactly that: a family-run house making handmade sandals in Capri with a legacy that’s iconic and a presence that’s beautifully understated. That’s the kind of partner we’re drawn to. This is the first of a series of collaborations we’re developing with heritage brands, ones with iconic staying power that align with how we think about timelessness.

This is a major time of expansion for your label.

It’s an incredibly exciting time for us. Southampton, Harrods, and Canfora Capri all coming together in the same stretch isn’t a coincidence, it’s the product of years of building the brand thoughtfully. We started this business together with a simple vision: beautiful clothing women would actually live in. Watching that grow from our first collections into a global retail presence and partnerships with brands we truly admire is something we don’t take for granted. We’re proud of how far TOCCIN has come, but we’re even more energized about what’s next, more retail experiences, more collaborations with brands that share our values, and a lot more room to grow.

Fashion is often about transformation. When a woman steps into TOCCIN, what do you hope she feels emotionally?

We want her to feel like herself, just more confident. When something fits beautifully and feels intentional, there’s nothing to overthink. She can focus on her day, not her outfit.
