Last night, Instagram brought the Met Gala’s Gilded Age theme to life with an after party inside a real Gilded Age mansion. The social media giant — which sponsored this year’s Gala — took over the James B. Duke House on the Upper East Side, transforming it into a party space worthy of snapping a selfie or two.
Each room on the first floor of the mansion was given its own aesthetic. One was ensconced in deep red lighting; another, filled to the brim with lush greenery. Two rooms leaned into the Gilded Age motif, highlighting the mansion’s gorgeous interior design, and everyone’s glittering outfits.
Guests — including Mayor Eric Adams — toured the spaces, sipping custom cocktails inspired by each room and sampling various hors d’oeuvres. The evening was scored by DJ duo Coco & Breezy, Anderson .Paak, and SZA, who performed live shortly after midnight.
