This Week in Parties: New York Fashion Week Kicks Off

On Thursday afternoon, The Armory Show held a special preview of its art fair at the Javits Center. The show opens to the public today, and runs through September 11.

Meanwhile, Hank Willis Thomas celebrated his show at Jack Shainman Gallery with an opening party at Bar Chrystie at Public Hotel.

Also on Thursday, Saks and Chloe Bailey celebrated the start of New York Fashion Week with a cocktail party at L’Avenue at Saks.

Later that night, Bergdorf Goodman also held a fashion week celebration at its men’s store. The evening featured performances Karen Elson (who dedicated a song to Queen Elizabeth) and Symone.

On Wednesday, the Black in Fashion Council held a New York Fashion Week dinner at Maison Close.

Meanwhile, Aerin Lauder hosted an intimate dinner at the Estée Lauder Townhouse to celebrate the tenth anniversary of her brand, and the launch of Rose de Grasse Joyful Bloom.

On Tuesday, Harlem’s Fashion Row and LVMH held an afterparty at Jazz at Lincoln Center. The evening featured a performance by Cam’ron.
